The essay traces the emergence of the framework of intersectionality in the evolution of feminist theory in a contemporary key. The intersectionality perspective allows us to identify the oppression of women in its various configurations, showing female subjectivities that differ in terms of ethnicity, culture, religion, race. All forms of inequality, therefore, have an intersectional character being the product of the interaction of different factors which then affect the opportunities and choices of individuals. In the current situation and compared to the persistence of different gender inequalities in Italian society, there are at least two fields of analysis in which the framework of intersectionality can represent a valid support, both in terms of critical reflection and solicitations for the redefinition of tools and practices in order to understand social experiences and diversification factors of individual paths: new dynamics of female migration and gender inequalities in the workplace.
